More About the Season

12/13/06 Missed the cookie party. That’s because we were shopping at a tree lot for our tree, and when we got home, I was baking. For the cookie party. I was pretty sad to miss it! I invented DELICIOUS pumpkin pie pinwheel cookies.

It was, a huge consolation, however, to know that the time was spent with my family. We ate at Fazoli’s- really no big deal- and then shopped for a tree at a privately-run tree lot. We considered both Home Depot and King Soopers (in fact, we had already hauled up our pathetic little fake tree, which looked laughable in the light of day), but decided to go to the lot. The light bulbs strung overhead, the REALLY NICE man in Carhart overalls hauling the trees around and strapping them on cars for people, the paths between the trees, the smell, the branches on the ground, the cramped trailer where the wife and daughter took our money: I think it was maybe even a better experience than cutting our own!

12/09/06 Loved miracle on 34th street, the BEST part is when Santa starts speaking Dutch to the little girl, and they start singing a Dutch song.

12/10/06 I loved going to Barr Lake.
