bullets of August

  • In an effort to explain and end the ongoing August- well, July and August, really- headache, I went to the eye doctor.
  • Who changed my left contact (which I use for near vision) to a much weaker power.
  • Who said that 2/3 of patients are not successful with this technique.
  • And who is a nature photographer with a picture of a Western Grebe and a picture of three Sandhill Cranes in his exam room.
  • I'll be needing to go back, and it's not for the bird pics.
  • Seepy left eye, coronas around all the headlights for night driving, eyeball ache.
  • OK, and I LOVE the sound of crickets at night.
  • The bluejay whining in the morning is not so pleasant, although I appreciate the effort.
  • I have a student whose IQ is 51.  I'll say no more, except that I love him.
  • Turns out ginger beer is not beer at all.  Much stronger, more gingery than ginger ale.  I love it.
  • The hair salon faces east and in this blazing summer, their METAL DOOR was SWELLING and they could NOT OPEN in the mornings.
  • One of the contractors called to solve the problem recommended that they
  • KEEP A BUCKET OF COLD WATER ON HAND to cool it down.
  • And he submitted an invoice for this advice.
  • I love people who make me feel competent.
