• cleverly remembered cable lock to my laptop!
• sadly forgot the KEY
• cleverly caught myself before locking the laptop around the steel base of the safebox in my room
• sadly forgot phone charger
• cleverly located local provider and dealt with
• sounds here are different than sounds at home.  The birds are frankly just taunting me- they know I don't recognize them so they loudly harass me with song.
• saw two park rangers pawing through a backpack they found thrown in the brush.  (They assumed it had been stolen and had to locate any clues.)  Had a nice chat, laughing with them as I told them they were FBI.  They were pleased that I loved their little wildlife refuge and encouraged me to join the "Friends of..."
• the plants here all look like they were created by Dr. Seuss
• big believer in saying hello.  That's how you taste the day.  Loved yesterday's shuttle driver- we cracked up all the way- he's a college student in education, but drives that shuttle like a NewYork cabbie.  Loved yesterday's Hertz rental shuttle driver- she positively LIT UP when I told her I was going to the mission. Loved that large birder from Virginia who was struggling with the California towhee (I was too, buddy, I was too.  It was ACTING like something else...)
