um, wha...?

I have a little problem with unscheduled time. Too many options- it paralyzes me, and I have to go to sleep. I've been sleeping for a couple of days now. Yep. School's out for the summer. Of course, the sleeping could be related to UTTER, UTTER exhaustion from actual activity in addition to anxiety from the last, oh, month or so.

Andy received an reading award at a nice luncheon. My parents and Peter were able to attend. At her assembly, which I was able to attend, Rose got a medal and certificate for being a "Remarkable Reader"- that is, she did all of her reading homework, logged it and turned it in all year. (The actual reading LEVEL is discouraging, but we have her enrolled in a summer program that might help.) I was very happy for both of them, and they were so proud.

Andy leaves for Japan on June 4. That's, like, really soon. We've gotten a notarized power of attorney for his chaperon, made copies of his passport, wrapped up the last of the fund-raising events, attended the last parent meeting, and raised a kitty for a thank-you gift for the director. We need to buy him clothes and shoes, exchange money, make a couple of scrapbooks for gifts to his host families, and refills of his prescriptions.

Andy tuned up my bicycle for Mother's Day, and I'm headed out for a spin. Maybe it will clear my head.

I think you and I had a similar week. It's finally summer! I'm looking forward to a boring, eventless week...aahhhh. Of course, I don't have to get a child ready to travel to Japan. Hang in there.
