It's always this way. May is busier than December in my family, and maybe in yours. Spring sports haven't quite finished, but summer sports are starting. (You almost wish your kid's team would do poorly so they don't make the playoffs- which add another round of games that you can't plan for in advance...) Daycare has a carnival and then starts winding down for the summer, but it finishes up before our need for it ends. Mother's Day and a birthday are in there. Then there are end-of-school review meetings, and planning meetings for next year, graduations, field trips, track and field day. I am not, by the way, talking about meetings and trips for WORK. This is all family related.
Today, Rose had an evaluation for her summer social-skills group. Fortunately, an agency that supports families of the developmentally disabled will be helping us to pay for these therapeutic sessions- they are led by a psychiatrist and will total about 70 hours by the end of summer. I also want her to have warm-water swim instruction and some art classes. This is in addition to summer school, which lasts all of June.
Andy will be going to Washington D.C. in about 9 days, and is spending that time at baseball practices, games, Japanese classes, fundraisers and homework.
I have stuff to do for myself, too, of course, but mostly, I just want to shut my eyes for a while.
