I haven't posted, because I want to show photographs of my work in progress, and I can't do that until I find the camera. And I can't keep working on my work in progress until I post about it being a work in progress and take pictures of it. So, my work in progress isn't REALLY in progress at all, is it? It's stalled.
Um. Is the blogging world dictating my life?
OK, let's look at a different picture, then.

This lovely duck is a Common Goldeneye. I think you can see why. This is a diving duck, smaller than the familiar dabbling mallard. If you were to see one in a lake, it would probably be further from shore than the dabblers, and it would periodically disappear, emerging in a different place. These birds can be seen with a just little effort on a cold day like this. Go to running water, where the ice hasn't formed. As cold as it seems to us, if the water isn't frozen, then it's warmer than everything around it. In our city, there are several waterways that are pretty reliable. When you see the ladder-type striping on the bird's back, look at it carefully. There is another Goldeneye that is less common, the Barrow's. In a mixed flock of waterfowl, there might just be one mixed in there.
Now, I'm going to go look for the camera. I know you're dying to see my WIP, and I'm dying to finish it!
