What else ain't I got? I ain't got no pictures of my WIP. And, I ain't got no idea where my camera is.
Latest is a missive from the genetics department about our Dandy. There are all kinds of subordinate tests they can run, now that they've ruled out 8 things and found her cyst. We originally went on the fishing expedition (read: blood test and MRI) because we thought if this WAS genetic, she should certainly know about it when she is a young woman and thinking of becoming a mother. But let me tell you, hauling her in to strange doctors, having strange procedures done, and getting her STUCK WITH A NEEDLE are experiences that I can hardly face- and I'm not talking about HER reaction. So, Daddy and I will have a conversation, and I'm sure we'll decide we should pursue the testing. Hey, we are contributing to the body of medical knowledge for the rest of the Dandy population. Maybe.
I know it must be like this for all parents, regardless of the issue. If it wasn't a brain cyst, it would be something else.
Here is your duck du jour: ( think it's canard en francais...? Cindi?)

This beauty is a northern pintail. Larger than our goldeneye, but smaller than a mallard. (Pretty close, though, and with that long neck, he has kind of a goosey profile). A dabbler. A recent drop in numbers here in our part of the continent. We usually see them only in the migration seasons and in winter. They nest further north. Look at that beautiful buffy flank! and such a sleek head.
